Lakshmi and Saraswati are flanked on either side of Ambal Alagambikai’s shrine. By worshiping these three powers at the same time, one can get education, wealth and power.

When the Ayyappan shrine at Sabarimala caught fire, a new idol was brought from Tamil Nadu. The idol was brought to this temple for puja.

After the puja, they tried to take the idol from there. But, due to various reasons, the idol remained here for three days.

Puja was performed to Ayyappan on all three days. A special shrine to Ayyappan has been built here in his memory. During Jyoti Darshan at Sabari Hill, Jyoti Darshan ceremony is also held here.

A five-faced Heramba Ganesha is depicted on a lion vehicle in front of Kachabesvara. Siddhi and Buddhi are standing near him.

It is believed that worshiping this Lord will increase the unity between husband and wife. There are 63 shrines of Nayanmar Mandapam, Dattatreya, Durgai, Adi Shankar and Mulakeswarar.

Shrine History:

A devotee was returning home after worshiping Kachaleswarar in Kanchipuram. Due to heavy rain on the way, the river was overflowing.

Hence, he could not return to the town. He also had many jobs in town. “What shall I do, Lord!” he asked.

But the rain stopped after a week of incessant downpour. It took another week for the flood to recede. The devotee put the burden on Shiva and after the flood receded, he descended into the river and reached the town.

What a miracle! All the work that he had to do had been completed without leaving a single one, and the Lord himself came and completed all the work for his devotee in the form of the devotee.

Then the devotee worshiped Shivalinga at Avvur. Over time, a temple was also built there.

Lord Shiva:

Maha Vishnu took the form of a turtle and took the form of a turtle while submerging himself in the ocean of Mantramalai, which was used as a meditation.

He is known as ‘Kachabeswarar’ and ‘Kachaleeswarar’ as he is the worshiped Lord Shiva. “Kachapam” means “tortoise”. The lingam here is placed on five asanas namely Kurma (tortoise), Naga, Lion, Yugas and Padma.

It is rare for Shiva to appear in this setting. People who are afraid of snakes and poisonous animals can worship him by anointing him. Behind this lingam is a Sathasiva murti on the sanctum wall.

It is believed that worshiping this image of Lord Shiva and the invisible Linga in the same sanctum sanctorum will remove sins and attain salvation.

Shrine miracle:

Based on miracle: Navagraha in this temple is standing in Tanimandapam. The Sun among the planets is with his consorts Usha and Pratyusha.

Among the temples that we have visited so far, only here, there are so many paintings and messages on the surrounding walls that have left us in awe.

Prakaram ended with Gosala. Once again we thanked Karuna Nayak and left from there.
