‘Surarai Potru’ video goes viral

A deleted fight scene

Suriya’s ‘Surarai Pothu’ directed by Sudha Kongara won the Best Film, Best Screenplay, Best Actress, Best Actor and Best Music Score categories at the 68th National Film Awards.

Released directly on Amazon Prime Video in 2020, the film received high critical acclaim and broke viewership records in India.

Meanwhile, a deleted fight scene from ‘Soorarai Pottu’ has gone viral on the internet and shows Suriya’s intensity.

It is in the Hindi version and Sudha has said in interviews that she shot the action sequence for the North Indian market.

Suriya played an ordinary man who dreams of becoming an airline owner based on Deccan Airways owner G.R. Gopinath.

Aparna Balamurali plays a strong woman who supports her husband’s dream and supports him to achieve it.

‘Soorarai Potru’

Sudha Kongara, Suriya and G.V. After the director wraps up the Hindi remake of Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Suraraip Pottu’, Prakash Kumar will team up again for a new gangster story.

Suraraip Podu is a 2020 Indian Tamil language drama film written and directed by Sudha Kongara and produced by Suriya, Jyothika and Guneeth Monga.

Shalini co-wrote the screenplay with Usha Nair, Alif Surti and Ganesha provided additional screenplay, and Vijay Kumar and P. Virumandi wrote the verses.

The film stars Suriya, Aparna Balamurali and Paresh Rawal in lead roles, with Mohan Babu, Urvashi and Karunas in supporting roles.

Simply Fly:

The film was partly inspired by events in the life of Simply Deccan founder GR Gopinath as recounted in his memoir A Deccan Odyssey.

While the project was announced in mid-2018 under the title Suriya 38, the official title was announced in April 2019.

Principal photography began the same month and ended in September. The shooting took place in Madurai, Chennai and Chandigarh.

Music composer G.V. Prakash Kumar, cinematography and cinematography are handled by Niketh Pommiretty and Satish Surya respectively.

The film’s theatrical release was affected due to post-production delays and the Covid-19 pandemic.

The film was digitally released on 12 November 2020 through Amazon Prime Video on the occasion of Diwali.

It was released simultaneously with dubbed versions in Malayalam and Kannada under the same title and in Telugu as Akasaam Nee Hattu Ra (Transl. Vaname Haman).

The Hindi dub of Udaan (trans. Vimana) was released on 4 April 2021.
