If there is one political movement in Indian political history that has created its own youth wing, it is the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
At a barber shop in Gopalapuram, ‘Kopalapuram Youth DMK’ was started in 1968 by Chief Minister Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin. He is the mother seed of the youth team which is the nursery of the club.
In 1980, in the grand convention held at ‘Jhansi Rani Park’ in Madurai, DMK. The youth team was started under the leadership of M.K.Stalin’s DM Kazhagam President Muthamizharinagar Karunanidhi.
Subsequently, in the second annual function held in Trichy in 1982, President M.K.Stalin was announced as the state organizer of the youth wing by Kailaignar Karunanidhi.
As the leader of the association, he traveled all over villages and towns in Tamil Nadu as the organizer of the youth team of the day and strengthened the youth team and the association by uniting Dravidian thinking youth and volunteers in Tamil Nadu.
The hard work and contribution that the leader traveled all over Tamil Nadu soon made him the secretary of the youth team.

He made full use of this opportunity and identified young people who were loyal to the DMK and gave them responsibilities and strengthened the movement throughout Tamil Nadu.
Following this, for three decades as the secretary of the youth team, he was instrumental in fulfilling the goals and action plans of the association and confirmed the role of the youth team in protests, rallies, conferences and elections.
DMK Following M.K.Stalin, Youth Team Secretary, Vellakovil Mr. Saminathan acted as the Youth Team Secretary. In July 2019, Mr. Udhayanidhi Stalin took charge as the youth team secretary of the club.

Mr. Udayanidhi Stalin took over as the Secretary of the Youth Team and set a target of adding 30 lakh new members to the Youth Team.

Today, the third generation of youths are working for the betterment of Tamil Nadu by joining Kazhagam youth team one by one.
After becoming the Youth League Secretary, the first task given by the League President to Udhayanidhi Stalin was to recruit 30 lakh full-time members of the Youth League at 10,000 per block.
He was the Secretary of the Kazhagam Youth Team who toured all over Tamil Nadu for that work and attracted the youth towards the Kazhagam.
Apart from that, he made youth team responsibilities up to several thousand branches and increased the number of youth team.

“Vidiyalai Nokki” and 2021 assembly election campaign was started at the same house where muthamizharignar Kalaignar was born.
Starting from that day, for about 6 months, he went all over villages and towns in Tamil Nadu and campaigned for party candidates and coalition candidates.
Even after contesting as a candidate in Chepakkam – Thiruvallikeni constituency, his campaigning throughout Tamil Nadu did not stop. His campaign in the south of Tamil Nadu reverberated as far as Delhi’s Red Fort.
In the assembly elections 2021, the party won a landslide victory and came to power. Chepakkam – Thiruvallikeni constituency, the youth wing secretary won by a margin of 69,355 votes.
It is noteworthy that the ‘maiden speech’ delivered by the youth team secretary as a member of the Legislative Assembly for the first time on 18.08.2021 has received appreciation and recognition from all quarters.
